Default The Ending of EotN and Livia

*spoilers sort of*

This may have been talked about didn't see it anywhere. Anyway I finished EotN a long long time ago like many and didn’t think much of it. But then I just went back to watch the ending cinematic and noticed something kind of interesting.

When they get to Livia they show her out of everyone walking up to the syceptor of Orr(?) And the voice says "Sacrifices will be mad" it made it seem like Livia was going to sacrifice herself or something. Anyone know what it means because I may have missed or forgotten something.

Otherwise any idea what she was doing in the final sequence?

You did actually watch the cinematic right? She shies away from it, the sacrifice is her resisting the staff and its power, that's the sacrifice.

i assumed it was referring to the "will she or won't she" subtext in that scene. all that power, but at what cost? :P

Probably will be explained in Gw2, as such, no info is known apart from that documented.

You created 3 threads.

She was about to take the Scepter of Orr to "save" Kryta. But the cutscene leaves it up to you to decide if she took it or not.

Ether way its basicly saying the Scepter of Orr will reappear in GW2. But dont expect a second Undead Lich as the Scepter of Orr has nothing to do with becoming a Lich.

Aye, you are correct there. This has been talked about many times in Druid's Overlook. But there was never a thread dedicated to this because of it's minute size in discussion.

As pointed out, she shows hesitation in the scene. It cannot be put side by side that what Odgen says relates specifically to the scene - although it does seem that way.

Livia points out in the Epilogue that she is heading to Arah, the capital of Orr. She also asks the players about the Scepter of Orr during the starting cinematic for the G.O.L.E.M. mission.

What this exactly means is speculations but best guesses always link to Livia wanting to use the Scepter of Orr to protect Kryta and the Royal family from the White Mantle.

Of course there is a far out belief by 3 or so people that the "Mysterious Stranger" that is mentioned by Zinn is in fact Livia and that she searched for the Scepter of Orr because she believes the Royal Family is bad for Kryta - and prior to getting the Scepter of Orr she uses Golems. Complete baloney in my opinion with nothing to back it up.

Edit: Also what Free Runner said.

No. After killing the Lich, Glint takes the Scepter of Orr away in the cutscene. It is not seen or heard of until Eye of the North. However, the Staff of the Mists, the twin sister staff of the Scetper of Orr is mentioned in Nightfall - my guess was that it was a hint to the return of the Scepter of Orr which then turned into a hint of it's return in GW2 - as Free Runner pointed out.

That's never been verified. It's best explained as mysteriously disappearing as there is no real indication that Glint did anything to it or with it.

The Staff of the Mists is actually part of the quest The Hallowed Point. It provides some good healing, which is useful in that zone. The Scepter of Orr, on the other hand, provides energy.

The Lich was already his undead self before we gave Vizier Khilbron the Scepter.

Well the Lich became the Lich before he ever got hold of the Scepter of Orr which was sealed away. I was hoping that would be a big indication that it had nothing to do with his change (the cause of which we're not certain of).

But if you can provide a good explanation on why he used the Scepter to change himself, sealed it away in a tomb, blew up Orr and then spent 2 years chasing down the Scepter, i'm all ears.

Read pages 38-40 of the Prophecies manual. It describes what happened to the island of Orr, and it is heavily implied in the game lore (at least, that's what I took away from it), though not outright stated, that the Lich was once the Orrian King's advisor, and became the Lich when he cast the spell that inadvertently destroyed Orr.

Wasn't all this (what happened in Prophecies) and the fortune teller in Factions part of Abaddon's plan for coming back?

I cant really remember, but now that you mention it its a couple of possibilities. I think its a matter of her using the staff to overpower the white mantle in their struggle for control of Kryta.

Either that, or shes gonna resurrect Orr which imo would be cool. Doubt it though.

Getting Khilbhron to blow up Arah, through the use of demonic agents, powerful spells and manipulation of the Charr (Send Titan to Charr -> Charr run to Ascalon -> Charr blow up Ascalon -> Charr break through and head to Orr -> Demon convinces Khilbhron to use Magic -> Arah blows up) was part of Abaddons plan.

Chasing down the Scepter to control the Titans was Khilbhrons plan to open the Door of Komalie and control the Titans with the Scepter to rule Tyria. As trickfed said its implied he became the Lich due to the Cataclysm.

This thread is starting to belong in Druids Overlook.

I like the fact that in the end of EOTN they left SOOOOO much open for speculation. And I agree with Luminarus, the resurrection of Orr would be cool. I never paid all that much attention to the end scene, i did notice she had the scepter, but never thought much about it. But I will go back and replay them and this time pay more attention. Thank you for bringing this up.

Khilbron became a Lich during the Cataclysm. What made him a lich is either the power of the Cataclysm itself or the power of the Undead Dragon underneath. That is the only question on how Khilbron became a lich. Of course, it is possible he became a Lich before that - as it seems he was around during the Second Great Corsair War *or at least at the end of it, provided by the Shards of Orr dungeon quest*.

And the quest is in Nightfall. As I said.

I guess it will become cleared in the coming lore books. They would not put this part into the end cinematic if it was not important for the future.
